It's 4 days until the final years from Textile Crafts, Surface Design and Textile Design start to put up their work ready for the degree show exhibition!

Laura Greenwood
For her final project, Laura has developed in-depth research into material testing and investigation incorporating the latest trend and colour ideas to create material combinations.
The idea is to create a tactile future, looking at unusual material developments for use as floor, wall and furniture applications within the interiors sector.

Melanie Longbottom
Melanie is a final year surface Design student whose main focus is printed graphics and the application of metal to leather for fashion design.

Zetland Fundraiser Update
As part of the efforts to raise money for the degree show catalog a craft event was set up by the students at the Zetland venue directly opposite the university.
Tables were set up to sell and advertise work the students had been doing, also 2 local craft business (Crafty Praxis and Notsosquare Scarf Co) held stalls selling handmade jewellery items made from fabric.
The fundraiser started during the day and went on into the night a total of £100 was raised.
Katie Soponski - Surface Design
Katie is a Surface Design final year working with laser cutting and printing techniques for use in interior spaces. Using felt and other mixed media materials such as Perspex, Katie has developed a range of contemporary acoustic surfaces that encourage the sense of touch.
Katie's work can be applied to varied surfaces including wall panelling, soft furnishings and upholstery.
